Food was great - one of the nice things is that the wait staff actually knows the menu (unlike some places) and you can switch out sides, if you don't like the combination. plus this restaurant is quite large! Very family friendly, in-fact, I think that every other table had kids (ages 8mo - 18yrs). the place was packed, but we only waited about 3 minutes for a large booth. We went for a Saturday afternoon lunch to meet friends. 15 minutes later no one had showed up and it was a very cold night, so we went back to check with her, and with the same fake smile and a tired tone: "He will be here!" It is not that I hated the entire experience, it is just wasn't memorable in a favorable way.Located in Tyson's Corner Center across from Gordon Biersch Brewery - Coastal Flats provides a great place to eat in Tyson's. This manifested when we asked them to ring for a taxi, and the hostess told us 10 minutes and he will be here. The staff seemed friendly, but one starts seeing beyond that wide smile that doesn't leave their faces and realize they are totally faking it. The food is OK, but nothing memorable about it. The complimentary buns where hot and yummy, but the butter that comes with them had sugar in it, which wasn't really a delightful experience when expecting that one will get a savoury bite. It was a cold night and I wanted to order soup, but the chowder had bacon and the bisque had alcohol and I couldn't order either because of my dietary restrictions. This alone gets me cranky and start to get picky around everything else.
